I cannot lie... I find myself wishing that I could be popping some corks about now. Wine corks, that is. Preferably those of the Pinot Noir variety. At 8 months preggo, and facing some seriously trying times at work - I have come to realize how much I miss my evening glass of wine. I didn't even think about it during my first two trimesters, but I really do miss it now. With only 30 days or so left of my pregnancy (eek!), and seeing as the Mr. kicked off our wine-room renovations last week... I think it's only appropriate that I do a little prowling for wine room inspiration. If there is one room in the house where we can get away with a major THEME without being too cheesy... I think the wine room might be IT.
Probably like you, I've seen *plenty* of wine cork ideas floating around out there... but this is the first time I went out specifically seeking them. And I actually found some pretty cool things I hadn't seen before. Hopefully these ideas are new to you as well. As if I need any more motivation to pour a glass once I'm allowed...
Here is a round up of some 'made-from-cork' projects that struck me as especially inspired. They certainly got my little brain all hopped up on ideas for decorating the wine room. All photos link to the source website. Hope you enjoy!
I'm not sure that I like this as a baseboard (I'm envisioning serious dust and chipping issues), but I do love it as inspiration for a backsplash detail or pillar accent.
Cute coasters. But if you're like me - you'd probably SPILL and feel like you were on your third glass of wine instead of your first. Maybe we could just *display* them. Ha!
And nothing like a little cork lantern to light the way to your favorite bottle! Love this design.
And hows this for an inspirational photo? If you have enough corks... the sky is the limit!
While I'm thinking about which DIY cork project to begin with, I better make myself one of these to sit in. Whoa. I hope this guy worked in a restaurant...
And I saved my fave for last. If we ever find ourselves in a position to kick things up a notch (or five) around here... perhaps I'll find myself with enough Champagne corks (in place of 9-dollar-a-bottle-pinot-noir-corks, that is) to take on this chandelier. HOW COOL IS THIS?
So, until I can partake again... have a glass for me.
And save me the cork, would ya?

I LOVE all the cork projects. I wonder how people collect enough to make these amazing things!
